HOCFIT - IEEE CSIDC 2005 Project of TU-Plovdiv

Project Description

Nowadays, advanced technology devices are all around us. We take them for granted and we are using them in all spheres of social life. We decided to combine the fast development of the technology and daily human habits in a centralized system that we called "Home Control on Fingertips" (HOCFIT). All what you need to use it is just having a mobile phone, PC, PDA or Laptop and they to be connected to the Global Network – Internet or just be in appropriate distance.
We designed the system with numerous consultations and needs analysis. All of this led us to the idea of cooperation in a unique way Bluetooth, IrDA, Ethernet, Internet, needed protocols and needs of the people that using HOCFIT. The system is designed in hierarchical three-layer model: master, sub-masters, and end-devices. Each of them has their features and suitable interfaces to communicate with each other. Master accepts the commands from the authorized user and transmits it to the definite sub-master and the sub-master manipulates the end-device. The system is based on the TCP/IP protocol stack. All of that allow us to connect to already existing system and gather information from it like alarm systems. Equipped with those modules HOCFIT could be integrated easily with existing cable infrastructure or lack of infrastructure.
The HOCFIT project consists of mixture of various hardware units and software applications closely interacting with each other (see figure below).
